Across the country\, federal immigration raids are targeting working people — including day laborers who gather in Home Depot parking lots to seek honest work. These actions have created fear in immigrant communities and raised serious concerns about due process\, civil rights\, and basic human dignity.\n\n\n\n\n\nProtesters are calling on Home Depot to take a clear stand: Publicly oppose ICE raids conducted on or near its properties. Adopt policies that protect day laborers from being targeted in its parking lots. Affirm that its stores will not be complicit — directly or indirectly — in actions that undermine constitutional rights. This is not a partisan issue. It is a moral one. In fact\, that is a key purpose of government\, to care for people when they are unable to care for themselves. Due to the recent pullback of federal support\, the homeless and those who suffer from food insecurity need assistance. \nOn March 5th at our General Meeting\, we have the honor of hosting Auburn Interfaith \nFood Closet\, Inc. (AIFC).  AIFC is a local organization that provides access to nutritious food to people in need.  AFIC will present to us the impact of their work\, thanks to generous donations within our community.  Their mission is to provide “nutritious food to those in need\, preserving their dignity and encouraging self-reliance.” \nWe are asking attendees to consider donating food items or checks at our March 5th meeting.  Items in need are: canned meat or tuna\, canned fruit\, canned vegetables\, diced tomatoes\, peanut butter\, and soup. A complete list of items can be found on their website at:  https://auburnfoodcloset.org \n***Public School Strong*** \nAADC will also welcome Public School Strong members Annie Bowler and Carol Koons\, who will talk about the role of school boards in making major policy decisions that directly impact what and how our children are taught.  Annie and Carol are coordinators with Public School Strong\, a nonprofit\, nonpartisan organization that attends school board meetings and monitors trustee actions to ensure that they follow the law and act in the best interests of students. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe Auburn Area Democratic Club meets on the first Thursday of every month for the General Membership Meeting. \n\n\nAuburn City Hall\nRose Room\n1225 Lincoln Way\nAuburn\, CA 95603\n\n\n\n\n5:45PM – Social (Pizza & soft drinks are available for 5.00 per person)\n6:30PM – General Membership Meeting\n8:00PM – Meeting Ends\n\nThe meeting begins promptly at 6:30PM\, starting with club business followed by our Speaker Series.
