You have the power to decide on the quality of life you want for yourself and future generations. By voting, you have the opportunity to defend issues that concern you, such as protecting the environment, military spending, and immigration policies. You also have a say about local issues: public transportation, urban sprawl, and financing local schools. It’s about your life: take time to inform yourself and decide what’s best for you.
Californians who are registered to vote with NO PARTY PREFERENCE may request an American Independent Party, DEMOCRATIC Party, or Libertarian Party presidential primary ballot. This is a process known as “crossover voting.” If a No Party Preference voter does not request a crossover ballot, they will receive a primary election ballot WITHOUT any presidential candidates listed.
The Republican Party in California does not allow any No Party Preference voters to vote on the Republican Primary ticket.
No Party Preference voters who vote in person may simply request their desired crossover ballot when checking in at the polls. For more information on No Party Preference voting, go to the California Secretary of State’s website by clicking HERE.
