We mourn the death of the 107th Justice of the United States Supreme Court — the second woman ever confirmed to that Court — the Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Tomorrow we will fight in honor of her memory. But first, let us mourn the woman, lawyer, Judge and Justice that she was.
Today, we honor her. We recall that she was one of only nine women in her Harvard Law School class of 500, and that the Dean of the Law School invited all of the female students to a dinner, where he asked them “Why are you at Harvard Law School, taking the place of a man?” We honor her for showing him exactly why she deserved that spot. We recall that she transferred to Columbia Law School when her husband’s job took him there, and then tied for first in her class upon graduation. We honor her for proving to all who would demean and dismiss them, that women can compete and prevail in every role traditionally reserved for men. We recall all that she did to advance women’s rights even before President Carter appointed her to the D.C. Circuit — including co-founding the Women’s Rights Law Reporter at Rutgers Law School and the Women’s Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and her ground-breaking work to build this country’s gender discrimination laws. We honor her for her steadfast and passionate commitment to securing these and other civil rights, and ensuring that women finally were treated as equals in this country.
Tomorrow, we fight. Because our champion is gone. Because this is personal, now more than ever. Because Tom McClintock and politicians like him oppose — and they have shown us through their actions that if they could, they would undo — all that Justice Ginsburg spent her life fighting to achieve. Tom McClintock consistently votes against women on the issues that matter. As this vote summary shows, just this year, he voted “No” on Bills that would have removed the deadline to enact the Equal Rights Amendment and established a women’s history museum in the Smithsonian Institution. Last year, he voted “No” on the Equality Act, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, and the Paycheck Fairness Act. Indeed, he consistently has voted “No” on the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, despite the enormous good that law has done. The list goes on and on. Tom McClintock doesn’t value women’s rights.
California’s 4th District deserves better. We deserve a representative who sees our challenges with clear eyes and takes meaningful action to fix them. We deserve a representative who truly cares about what happens in this District. We deserve a representative who will fight for us.
Join us, as we fight to send Tom McClintock back to his own District, and to finally stop him from selling us out, one vote at a time. To learn more about the alternative, visit https://brynneforcongress.com/.
Because we know, as Margaret Mead said, that “a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Sign A Petition Against Trump’s Nominating a
Supreme Court Justice against the Dying Wishes of RBG
(from Rahna Epting, MoveOn)
Donald Trump announced Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee for the Supreme Court of the United States.
He did this against Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s dying wishes and before she has even been laid to rest, while some states have already started voting, and with just over a month left in this election. This is an obvious attempt by the Republican Party and Trump to control all levers of power in this country and hold leverage over the election’s results. We cannot let this happen.
We are going to fight this nomination, and we are going to expose this nomination process and the confirmation proceedings for what they are—a political sham and power grab by Republicans and a corrupt president.
Since you already signed this petition, will you continue to join us in this fight against the Supreme Court nomination by sharing this petition with your friends on Facebook?
The petition already has over 1 million signatures, and it is a key part in making sure every senator knows where their constituents stand—so Democrats put up as fierce a fight as this moment demands and Republicans think twice before ramming through an illegitimate justice.
We need as many signatures as possible as hearings and proceedings begin for this sham of a nomination. Please join us. We need you with us and will continue to update you on actions you can take to win this fight.
Thanks for all you do.
