“This too shall pass.” That’s been my mantra these weeks as we hunker down due to COVID 19. I say these words whenever I feel frustrated. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way. Being unable to go anywhere and do my normal routine is very maddening. But this is what I need to do, and hopefully with everyone doing the same, this horror will pass and we can then get back to our normal activities.
There have been bright spots in this forced quarantine. It seems I am that “little old lady” on the street. Friends and neighbors have been calling to check up on me on a regular basis. I’ve even gotten calls from my friends in New York and New Jersey.
My neighbors have left me dinners, desserts and books on my patio. My next door neighbor not only made me dinner twice, she went grocery shopping for me. Another neighbor made me an Easter present of chocolates and home-made pumpkin donuts. On Easter, my friend Beth brought me a dinner of ham and scalloped potatoes. It is any wonder why I consider my friends part of my family?
I will certainly reciprocate in some fashion once this lockdown is over. I do not take my friends for granted and am appreciative of their love and friendship.
I hope all of you have people in your lives who show their love when times are both good and bad. I feel very blessed.
